According to the National Hurricane Center's latest advisory, Tropical Storm Franklin remains an active threat with potential to strengthen into a strong Category 2 hurricane. As of 8 am Tuesday, Franklin was located approximately 260 miles east-southeast of Belize City with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph.

Potential Impact

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the coastal areas of Belize, indicating the possibility of tropical storm conditions within the next 48 hours. Current forecasts predict that Franklin could become a Category 2 hurricane with winds of up to 110 mph by early Thursday.

The National Hurricane Center's 5 am Saturday advisory reported that Tropical Storm Franklin was located approximately 400 miles east of Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. Maximum sustained winds had increased to 50 mph.
